Shelby Petro
Shelby Petro is a professional wetland scientist with 13 years of experience in the environmental field, specializing in wetland science, natural resources management and regulatory compliance. She holds a master's in environmental science and management from the University of California, Santa Barbara, a bachelor's in biology from Indiana Wesleyan University and is a graduate of the UW Certificate in Wetland Science & Management program.
Shelby routinely delineates wetlands and streams, conducting habitat assessments for special-status plant and wildlife species, and impact assessments plus design of mitigation plans for wetlands, streams and upland buffers. This work also involves coordinating with local, state and federal agencies to obtain permits and approvals for compliance with regulations, critical area ordinances, shoreline management plans, the State Hydraulic Code, State and National Environmental Policy Acts, the Endangered Species and Clean Water Acts.
She has conducted fieldwork and obtained permits for projects in Washington, Oregon, California, Alaska, Montana and Indiana. Shelby also currently manages wetland permitting for renewable energy development projects across the United States.
