Matthew Bennett
Editor and Co-Founder, Cascadia Editors Collective
Matthew Bennett is an educator, writer, editor and researcher who has broad experience teaching language, literature, history and philosophy. Bennett is a co-founder of the Cascadia Editors Collective, which provides developmental editing and artistic guidance for writers. As a freelance editor, he collaborates with writers on novels, memoirs, creative nonfiction and academic books.
Bennett is a past vice president of the Northwest Editors Guild, where in 2018, he developed the Emerald Writers Program to give emerging writers their first professional editing experience. An instructor for UWPCE’s Certificate in Editing and Specialization in Developmental Editing, he was awarded an Instructional Excellence Award in 2022.
Bennett has presented his writing in the United States, Argentina, Mexico and Canada, and he contributed a chapter to "A Cultural History of Race in the Reformation and Enlightenment, 1550–1760" (Bloomsbury, 2023). He holds a Ph.D. in English from the University of British Columbia.
