Julie Dalessio

Julie Dalessio is a teaching professor in the Department of Speech & Hearing Sciences at the University of Washington, where she has been on the faculty since 2006. She's been a Washington state-licensed and ASHA-certified speech-language pathologist (SLP) for more than 20 years, with a focus on adult and geriatric populations.
Before joining the UW faculty, she practiced in the Seattle area as a medical SLP across acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, transitional care, and skilled nursing settings. Her specific clinical interests include acquired speech, language, cognitive-communication and swallowing disorders.
For almost two decades, Julie's been involved in both academic and administrative roles at the UW. She's taught in the classroom and online, supervised graduate student clinicians in the UW Speech & Hearing Clinic, developed new courses, helped create the MedSLP and EdSLP tracks of the master’s program and chaired graduate admissions. Dalessio has a master’s in speech-language pathology from the University of Washington.
