Josh J. Carlson

Professor, The Comparative Health Outcomes, Policy and Economics (CHOICE) Institute, University of Washington

Josh J. Carlson is a professor in the CHOICE Institute at the University of Washington's School of Pharmacy. Carlson's research has informed healthcare decision-making using economic modeling, evidence synthesis, preference assessment and health policy evaluation. His work has spanned many diseases, topics and methodologies, but specific focus areas include economic analysis, precision medicine, cancer and performance-based risk-sharing arrangements.

Carlson has diverse formal training in decision modeling, discrete choice experiments, comparative effectiveness, outcomes research and public health genetics. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Washington’s School of Public Health and Community Medicine in 2007, and in 2014, received the Bernie J. O’Brien new investigator award from the Professional Society for Health Economics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR).
